Tucson, Arizona--Pima Community College Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Mark Nelson, performs a collection of band classics and popular favorites for its March concert. Highlight of the concert is Gustav Holst’s “Second Suite in F.” Flute section leader Chris Smith is the featured soloist in the “Concertino” for flute and band by Cécile Chaminade. Additional compositions include “A Cole Porter Spectacular,” “A Festive Overture” by Alfred Reed, “National Emblem” march by E.E. Bagley and the “Galop” from the Comedians by Dmitri Kabalevsky (with xylophone and marimba soloists Lauren Barnett and Zach Whittier). The brass ensemble, flute ensemble, clarinet-saxophone ensemble, and the percussion ensemble (with an original work by percussion major Derek Pan) round out the program.

The PCC Wind Ensemble concert is open to the public.
