Tucson, Arizona--Pima Community College Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mike Kuhn, features an 18-piece big band performing jazz favorites from all eras. The concert spotlights soloists in improvisational roles with vocals by Rachel Ezonnaebi and some arrangements by lead trombonist Roger Wallace. Program selections include “Tiger of San Pedro” by John LaBarbera, “Harlem Nocturne” by Earle Hagen, “Filthy McNasty” by Horace Silver, and “Birks Works by Dizzy Gillespie.

 

In addition to instructing jazz ensemble, jazz improvisation, and popular music in America at PCC; Kuhn plays the jazz saxophone in a variety of venues around the greater Tucson area. 

 

Pima Community College Center for the Arts is located on the West Campus just west of downtown and I-10 on St. Mary’s Rd, which turns into Anklam Rd. Box office hours are Tuesday-Friday, noon to 5 p.m. and one hour prior to performance.
