“AN UNSPEAKABLE horror seized me. There was a darkness; then a dizzy, sickening sensation of sight that was not like seeing; I saw a Line that was no Line; Space that was not Space: I was myself, and not myself. When I could find voice, I shrieked aloud in agony, ‘Either this is madness or it is Hell.’ ‘It is neither,’ calmly replied the voice of the Sphere, ‘it is Knowledge; it is Three Dimensions: open your eye once again and try to look steadily.’”

~Edwin A. Abbott’s Flatland

In it’s 2013-14 season, ETCETERA is dedicated to presenting and producing all original work by local artists. This is the second year for this collaboration between the UA Studio Series and Etcetera, the late-night arm of Live Theatre Workshop. Last year, the UA Studio Series’s student-created production of Ouroboros moved to Etcetera for encore performances. Through this collaboration, Etcetera Artistic Director Angela Horchem hopes to give performers the opportunity to learn how to adapt a show for different venues and to use audience feedback to strengthen a script before closing at one venue and opening at another. In addition, the artists will be paid for their original work by receiving a portion of the box office for each show!

Please support this collaboration and help these students learn to prepare for a tour of their original work. Join us at Etcetera!

The School of Theatre, Film & Television Studio Series is dedicated to supporting original and contemporary pieces of performance through a ‘bare essentials’ production format that draws primary focus to the artistic and intellectual labor of theatre students. Its community-centered, people generated approach to performance provides creative learning opportunities for student artists, thought-provoking experiences for audiences, and occasions for productive dialogue about topics relevant to student populations and the broader Tucson community.
