27th annual Stars of Magic Show

From the Tucson Weekly…

It's Magic, You Know

27th annual Stars of Magic Show; Saturday, August 16, Temple of Music and Art,

By Irene Messina

We don't see a lot of ice in the Old Pueblo, but magically, some will appear this Saturday, Aug. 16. We're talking actual magic with master magician Kenrick "Ice" McDonald. And he won't bring us that frozen cold stuff, but instead Illusion, Captivation and Enchantment—all at the Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott Ave—during the 27th annual Stars of Magic Show.

McDonald is an award-winning magician known for grand illusions, including making doves disappear through "impossibly" small objects and making his macaw appear out of thin air. McDonald is joined by 10 other magicians during the two-hour event: John Shryock, George Franzen, Michael DeSchalit, Hiro, Norm Marini, Mari Lynn, Mike Bekedam, Jon Redman, Gabe Lin and Jacob Lowery. Each magician has their own specialty, but audience members will witness grand illusions, mentalism, parlor tricks, sleight of hand and close-up card magic.

Tickets for the 7 p.m. show are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and younger. Tickets purchased online at starsofmagicshow.com will be held at will call at the Temple of Music and Art. In addition, tickets will be sold at the door if the event is not sold out prior to performance time. —I.M.
