Community drummer and shekere player Michael Dattola will be offering his many years of experience playing this instrument, used in Cuban, African, and Brazilian (to name a few) music. Please JOIN US!


 

 

COME DRUM and DANCE with SOL AXÉ!

We will be returning from break on SUNDAY, AUGUST 31 for DANCE CLASS at 5:00-6:15PM. Esteban and the drummers will be bringing back the grooves and energy from California Brazil Camp!

Rehearsals begin again on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2 from 6:30 - 8:30PM

Both at Rhythm Industry Performance Factory, 1013 S Tyndall Ave.

We are getting ready to perform WORLD CARNAVAL style at TUCSON MEET YOURSELF the evening of SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11th! We will be focusing on the rhythms and Carnaval traditions of Maracatu from the Northeastern area of Brazil (Recife and Olinda). We will be part of a large procession as well as a stage performance...it's going to be an outstanding TMY! This will be followed by participating in the ALL SOULS PROCESSION on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 9th.

NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED! JOIN US and be part of a COMMUNITY of COLLECTIVE JOY!

Mission
Sol Axé (pronounced, Sol – ah –SHAY) a project under Many Mouths One Stomach, is a nonprofit drum and dance community in Tucson, Arizona. Inspired by the music of Brazil, Sol Axe features the music of many traditions from Brazil, the African Diaspora, and the World. Our intention is to inspire creativity, inclusiveness, community solidarity, and collective JOY, through lessons and classes, outreach programs, workshops, and high energy performances. SolAxé Group Rehearsals TUESDAYS at Rhythm Industry Performance Factory, 6:30-8:30 pm. Come learn to DRUM or DANCE; no experience is needed. Membership is $40/mo with discounts for students and those who need it, please ask. Membership includes Tuesday rehearsals and instruction, as well as Sunday Dance Class!

MMOS, the producer of the All Souls Procession, is a Tucson based collective of artists, teachers, and community activists who come together with the intent to create, inspire, manifest, and perpetuate modern festal culture.
