Latina Dance Theater Project Presents

J A G U A R !

A World Premiere play by Dawn Costello Sellers

Directed by Eva Tessler and featuring Tenoch Gomez, Christopher Johnson, Avis Judd, Anjelica Mendibles, Yvonne Montoya, Sherry Mulholland,

Milta Ortiz, Nanette Robinson and Brian Taraz

Maya is a young girl who grabs at everything she sees - lizards, fish and Pygmy owls - but what she really dreams of catching is a JAGUAR! As The Moon struggles to show her the importance of leaving what's wild well enough alone, Macho, a jaguar, roams the Arizona/Mexico border with his pack of playful coati. When Maya's obsession aligns her with biologists driven to find a jaguar at all costs, tempers rise and ambition takes science over an ethical cliff. Maya must look deep within to find a way to protect what's wild without crushing it in her grasp. Inspired by the untimely death of Macho B in 2009, at that time, Arizona's last known jaguar.

A portion of the proceeds from opening night will benefit Sky Island Alliance.

The playwright and a wildlife biologist will be present after the opening night performance for a discussion with the audience.

Performances of JAGUAR! are suitable for ages 9+
