LIGHTS UP! Youth Theatre Classes

at St. Francis in the Foothills, 4625 E. River Rd. (at Swan Rd.)

12 Week Classes beginning August 20th

CHILDREN'S THEATRE (ages 7-12)

Saturdays, 9:15-10:30 am

   This dynamic class is designed to develop children's natural creative abilities in the spirit of structured play. Students will learn the vital lessons of communication and community building. Through improvisation, movement, and creative drama, performance skills are fostered. Through oral reading and interpretation, characterization is cultivated. The class will conclude with a public performance of the original one-act play, THE MAGNIFICENT FEATHERED GORF, a highly entertaining and touching fable that pits the power of brute force and greed against the wisdom of kindness and generosity. The play is written by a local playwright and an award-winning photographer, Tomas DeMoss. Mr. DeMoss is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. $295.

MUSICAL THEATRE (ages 13-19)

Wednesdays, 4:30-6 pm and Saturdays, 10:45 am-12 pm

   A training ground for those pursuing a comprehensive experience in musical theatre, this class offers a strong foundation in voice and movement, acting skills, and audition technique. Students will have the opportunity to work with partners, in small groups, and one-on-one. A dynamic theatrical process will culminate in a public performance of selected scenes from various musical. $495.

* ROBERT ENCILA is a professional singer, actor, musician, and director of over a hundred productions. A certified master teacher in both public and private school systems, Robert enters his 25th year as a trainer of students from the early grades through college and beyond. He has appeared locally with BORDERLANDS THEATER and ARIZONA THEATRE COMPANY and is a frequent performer at BB KING'S and the BIRDLAND in New York City. He is a member of Actors' Equity Association.
