Arizona Opera presents Rusalka

Arizona Opera presents Rusalka

SHOWTIMES

TUCSON MUSIC HALL

Saturday, November 19, 2016 - 7:30pm

Sunday, November 20, 2016 - 2:00pm

When the water nymph Rusalka wants to be a part of our world, she sacrifices everything for the chance at true love. You think you know the story of this little mermaid, but the fairytale doesn't break the surface. Based on Hans Christian Andersen's original story, Rusalka features dark forests, woodland sprites, and the glorious aria, "Song To The Moon." Sara Gartland, who is "enchanting, with an expanse of surging sound," (Opera Today) returns to take the title role.

Sung in Czech with English Supertitles

Your hosts for this Eastern European Feast are Evie Stefenson-Marquart and Ed Marquart.  Evie is very knowledgeable about Eastern European foods, and her eye for beautiful plating will combine to give you a taste of what Rusalka may even have tasted when she left her underwater home and came on land to be with her beloved.  The little mushroom pieroszky are shaped like half moons and will be a tribute to the gorgeous aria sung by Rusalka as the Song to the Moon.  Join Evie and Ed for this unique dining experience in their Foothills home.
