Arizona Theatre Company, A LORT-B theatre in its 40th season, seeks a choreographer for its Tucson Summer on Stage program. This five-week acting-intensive program introduces high school students to both the process and products of professional theatre. Students are educated through classroom work and an intensive rehearsal process which leads to two fully-mounted productions. The Choreographer will work closely with the Artistic Director, Program Director, Director, Production Staff and other Instructors to accomplish the mission of educating young people through daily instruction, class work and the process of creating a theatrical piece. Responsibilities include choreographing a full musical with up to 40 actors, teaching daily dance and movement classes on the fundamentals of dance to students of varying ability levels, and serve as a mentor for Teaching Assistants as well as an ambassador for Summer on Stage for the public and press when needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to interact in a positive manner with young people, experience teaching and choreographing high school students in musicals, experience teaching movement/dance classes to varying experience levels, knowledge of the rehearsal process and inner workings of a professional theatre, and excellent communication skills. Position Responsibilities:
Instruct students on a daily basis the fundamentals of dance
Teach possible additional class as determined by Program Director
Choreograph a musical as determined by ATC Artistic Staff
Contribute to the artistic vision of a theatrical work approved by the Artistic Director
Communicate artistic vision to ATC production and collaborate on a variety of production ideas and adhere to production guidelines including scope and budget
Create and maintain daily and weekly project goals
Collaborate with Director and Musical Director to create a cohesive musical production
Serve as a mentor for Teaching Assistants
Serve as an ambassador for Summer on Stage for the public and press when needed
Other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications:
Strong ability to interact in a positive manner with young people
Experience teaching and choreographing high school students in musicals
Experience teaching movement/dance classes to varying experience levels
Knowledge of the rehearsal process
Knowledge of the inner workings of a professional theatre

Students are educated through classroom work and an intensive rehearsal process which leads to two fully-mounted productions. The Music Director will work closely with the Artistic Director, Program Director, Director, Production Staff and other Instructors to accomplish the mission of educating young people through daily instruction, class work and the process of creating a theatrical piece. Responsibilities include directing group and solo musical numbers for a full musical with up to 40 actors, assist in teaching daily singing classes on the fundamentals of voice to students of varying ability levels, and serve as a mentor for Teaching Assistants as well as an ambassador for Summer on Stage for the public and press when needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to interact in a positive manner with young people, experience teaching and musically directing high school students in musicals, experience teaching voice and music classes to varying experience levels, experience working with local musicians to create a pit orchestra, knowledge of musical arranging, knowledge of the rehearsal process and inner workings of a professional theatre, and excellent communication skills.
