Tucson High Magnet School Fine Arts presents

Our Town

By Thornton Wilder

Directed by Art Almquist

The Pulitzer Prize-winning American classic,

onstage at Tucson’s oldest high school

Perhaps the most frequently produced play by an American playwright, Our Town at first seems to be a simple look into the lives and interactions of the citizens of an everyday town in the early 20th century.  As we get to know the residents of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, the play reminds us that in seeing them go through the day-to-day business of their lives, we are witnessing something much deeper and more profound: the sheer beauty of life’s simple, everyday moments.   We also begin to see that, even though these characters exist in the world of 1901, we have much more in common with them than we might have initially believed.  Seen it before?  It’s time to see it again, brought to life by Tucson’s multiple award-winning high school theatre program.

“Beautiful and remarkable.  One of the sagest, warmest and most deeply human scripts to have come out of our theatre ... A spiritual experience."                                             N.Y. Post
