Auditions for “Inherit The Wind” : Memorize Now!

Bisbee’s Obscure Productions has announced an open call for actors for their upcoming production of Inherit The Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert Lee. Actors will read from the script and are also asked to come prepared to deliver a one- to three-minute memorized monologue, just to prove you can learn a line or two. The monologue could be poetry or prose, just no original work.

Inherit the Wind is an intense, timeless dramatization of the famous Scopes “Monkey Trial” features 21 males in roles ranging from “starter roles” with light line loads to several really terrific men’s roles. Director Rae Jones urges all our area men who have ever thought about being actors to choose this time to “evolve” into it. Though less abundant, there are good women’s roles as well, one age 20ish, one 50ish, and townswomen with a chance for singers to shine on the show’s selection of Old Time Hymns. A boy and a girl, each around age 10, are also needed to fill out the cast.

Auditions will be held at the Central School Project Theater, 43 Howell Ave. in Old Bisbee on Saturday and Sunday, November 13 & 14, beginning at 1:00 each day. Rehearsals will be selected evenings and weekends through performance, TBA when cast. Dress rehearsal and performance dates are scheduled for January 20-30, 2011. A copy of the script is available for reading at the Copper Queen Library.

Bisbee's Obscure Productions is a community theater housed at Central School Project. Bisbee is 90 miles SE of Tucson off Highway 80. Actors may contact BOP at (520) 432-2901 or theaterbisbee@gmail.com for more information and to make arrangements for special audition appointments.
