Encore! / Freshman Debut

"Loesser Is More!"

Presented by UA’s School of Theatre, Film & Television

Encore! Directed by Rob Gretta

Freshman Debut Directed by Cathy Hartenstein

For one night only, Encore! will be paired with our freshman acting students’ performance piece, the Freshman Debut.  Each year, Encore! presents a spirited revue from the best of Broadway and musical theatre performed by our freshman Musical Theatre majors. Loesser is More! features the hits of Broadway composer Frank Loesser in celebration of his 100th birthday.

Frank Loesser has been called the most versatile of all Broadway composers. He penned the lyrics to over 700 songs for the stage and screen, which earned him four Tony Awards, a Pulitzer, a Grammy, an Academy Award, and an iconic place in American musical theatre history. Although he produced only five musicals, (Where’s Charlie?, Guys and Dolls, The Most Happy Fella, Green Willow, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,) each made unique contributions to the art of American musical theatre.
