“BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER”
GOES INTO PRODUCTION AT CPAC
The Santa Cruz Valley Shoestring Players has cast “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” with 30 actors ranging in ages from five to 75 filling the stage at Community Performing Arts Center, where the play opens Dec. 1.
Written by Barbara Robinson, the play, appealing to adults and children, alike, runs a little over an hour and has been called a “Christmas classic” by McCall’s Magazine.
Performances will begin at 7 p.m. Dec. 1-3, and a matinee will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children and can be purchased at CPAC, 1250 W. Continental Rd., online at www.performingartscenter.org, or by telephone at (520) 399-1750.
The Shoestring Players production is directed by Polly Schlitz, who received a bachelor of fine arts degree from New York University and who acted professionally in stage, film, television and commercial productions. She is founding director and owner of Imagination Institute and chief executive officer of Draw Me A Sheep Productions in Tubac. Renowned Tubac artist Walter Wilson is designing the set.
Children in the cast represent schools throughout the area, including Sahuarita Intermediate, Continental, Great Expectations Academy, Mountain View, Digital Academy, Montessori de Santa Cruz, Sycamore Elementary and Pima College.
The cast includes: Kacie Courtney, Logan Karren, Stephanie Hollenbeck, Jim Mack, Marisa Acosta, Tony Coss, Zachary LaBarr, Breana Hohenstein, Catherine Hollenbeck and Sasha Wisdom. Also, Chris Bauer, Janice Stoker, Amanda Urbaniak, Judy Libby, Dorothy Imse, Karen Cuthbert, Thomas Curren, Raydn Riley, Cynthia Topping, Shane Acuna, Carden Arias and Shane Urbaniak.
The Angel Choir consists of Griffin Wisdom, Caleb Arias, Kelley Forehand, Trinity Condosta, Diane Gonzalez, Allison Rose Aguirre, Bailey Hammond and Elsa Meyer.
