Tucson, Arizona--Pima Community College performing arts department presents the Orchestra in concert, under the direction of Dr. Alexander Tentser. Program selections include the Joseph Haydn's last symphony composed for his successful trip to England—Symphony #104, “London," “Suite from the ballet "Swan Lake" by Russian composer Peter Illich Tchaikovsky, and selections from the musical "Showboat" by American music theater composer Jeremy Kern. The concert also premieres a new work composed especially for our orchestra—"Now Thought" by Charles Zoll, a composition major at the University of Arizona. This piece features Zoll on various percussion instruments, and many challenging parts for piano, strings, woodwinds and trumpet.

The PCC Orchestra is made up of high school students, college students and community adults. Tentser came to America in 1990 from the highly recognized Russian Music Academy in Moscow, Russia. He conducted the production of the oratorio "Esther" with the Jill Wieck Singers and Orchestra in March 2009, in Tucson. He directs the PCC Orchestra and teaches orchestra, piano and other music courses at the West and Desert Vista Campuses.
