Calling Artists and Performers to participate in the 1st Annual Tucson Fringe Festival Opening Celebration

A one night only event
La Cocina at Old Town Artisans
201 N. Court Avenue

Wednesday March 23, 2011
6pm-1am

Call for Proposals
Submission Deadline: March 12th

The Fringe Festival Opening is an avenue for featuring the “outer edges of fringe.”
We are looking for performance and theatre that is accessible through a gallery/exhibition format as apposed to proscenium.

Pieces may be ambient, installed, traveling, extremely-intimate, endurance based, audience interventions, mixed media, solo or group, etc.

You are encouraged to engage with the unique exhibition space (a magical explorative out-door courtyard that include a small stage; please consider a site visit before submitting a proposal.)

The Festival
In its inaugural year, Tucson Fringe Festival is an uncensored, unjuried theatre festival presenting exciting contemporary performance in Downtown Tucson. With 6 submissions from local and visiting groups the festival line-up is looking amazing!!! (http://www.tucsonfringe.org/2011-shows-and-schedule)

The Festival Opening is an opportunity for performance artists to express their work as part of the cannon of theatre. Additionally, participating will vastly enhance the dynamism of this new theatre festival and help to establish experimental performance as part of the Tucson Fringe Festival.

How to participate
Send a brief proposal to Morrighan Clinco theclinco@yahoo.com

Include:
1. Name and Contact
2. Title
3. Description of performance

We are not interested in censoring content, but require pieces to be thoughtful in creation and appropriate for the performance format.
There will be a meeting at La Cocina the week of March 14th and additional rehearsal opportunities in the week before the event.

Please feel free to contact us with any question, and for additional information on the festival go to http://www.tucsonfringe.org/

Looking forward to your contributions!
