Ironwood Ridge High School Students Up for Performance Awards

The annual revue presents Pygmy Awards for the best work of the school’s theater season.

Ironwood Ridge High School’s best theater performers of the year will receive recognition at the annual Pygmy Awards Show May 6.

Billed as IRHS's Oscars, the semi-formal affair will announce top efforts by students in 14 categories covering acting, singing, directing, set design and technical skills. Winners are selected by vote of attendees to all of this year’s productions.

Interspersed in the free show will be comedy sketches, a closing number and scenes from this year’s productions:
·         “Broadway Night”
·         “Noises Off”
·         “Last Five Years”
·         “Ax of Murder”
·         “Wizard of Oz.”

The Pygmy Awards are named after the pygmy owl, an animal linked to the earliest days of the high school. The theater department is celebrating 10 years of staging community theater in the northwest area of Tucson.
