Arizona Theatre Company Celebrates 47th Season with

“Dancing in the Street”

Cabaret performance by TV and Broadway star Anneliese van der Pol

TUCSON, Ariz (August 27, 2013) – Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) will celebrate its 47th season with “Dancing in the Street”, with its Gala under the stars at the historic Temple of Music and Art located on Scott Avenue in Tucson on Saturday, October 5 beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Guests will be entertained with an intimate cabaret performance by Anneliese van der Pol who appeared in ATC's world-premiere musical “Jane Austen's Emma” and Broadway's “Beauty and the Beast”. Following the performance will be a catered dinner by Gallery of Food and a live auction featuring guest auctioneer David Fitzsimmons of the Arizona Daily Star.  Fitz will also express the community’s appreciation to ATC’s Artistic Director, David Ira Goldstein for his 22-year tenure at the theatre.  The evening will continue with a night of dancing in the street with music provided by The JJ’s.

This year's recipients of the Georgy Award are Ann Lovell and The David and Lura Lovell Foundation. Named after George Rosenberg, an Arizona Theatre Company Trustee Emeritus and longtime benefactor, the Georgy Award is presented annually to individuals and organizations that have made an outstanding commitment to the theatre, a meaningful contribution to ATC, or that embody the spirit of ATC's mission through their work with the arts community.

“This will be a terrific opportunity to thank Ann Lovell and The Lovell Foundation for their continued support of our education programs,” said ATC Interim Managing Director Jessica L. Andrews. “Their support helps the theatre reach thousands of young people in Arizona and lets them experience live theatre, perhaps for the very first time.”

The gala will be hosted by co-chairs Gail Giclas and Rachael Baker, along with ATC’s Board of Trustees.  Cox Communications, PICOR Commercial Real Estate Services, and the Harvey and Deana Evenchik Foundation are this year’s Gold Sponsors.

Funds raised through “Dancing in the Street” will be used to support ATC education and community engagement programs, which further the company’s mission of producing professional theatre and serving as an educational and cultural resource in the state.

Tickets are available now for this event and are $200 each or $2,000 per table of up to ten. For tickets and more information contact Director of Major Gifts Jill Bishop at jbishop@arizonatheatre.org or (520) 884-8210 x 7301. Sponsorship opportunities are also still available for this event.
