A Pain in the Aunt
By Peré Summers
Premiers September 6th
Lois Lederman and Cristin Phibbs
Aunt Margaret's life is not so good. She's old, she's sickly and generally she's a big grump. Her niece Pricilla's life is not too good either. She's Aunt Margaret's caretaker and Aunt Margaret takes her aggravations out on poor Pricilla. Aunt Margaret has paid for Pricilla's education and Pricilla has promised life care for Aunt Margaret in return. Is there no way out for either of them?
Of course there is! This is The Comedy Playhouse, after all. Add a little memory, add a little hope and add "a little something extra," and we'll all get to a happy ending. Enjoy the World Premier of this brand new play by Tucson playwright Peré Summers.
Nell Summers directs Comedy Playhouse favorites Lois Lederman, Cristin Phibbs, and Maria Fletcher as they present A Pain in the Aunt.

The Comedy Genius
Of
O. Henry III
Continues through August 31
Rebecca Niesen
O. Henry (real name William Sydney Porter) was born in North Carolina in 1862. He tried many professions including pharmacist, ranch hand, draftsman, clerk and bank teller. During his stint as bank teller, through carelessness or embezzlement, money was found to be missing. The bank auditor discovered the shortage, and O. Henry lost his job. Eventually, he was indicted, put on trial, and sent to prison. It was in prison, that he wrote and published his first stories. The pen name was essential, as no respectable magazine would consider publishing the work of a convict.
The public fell in love with his stories and that love affair continues to this day.
The Comedy Genius of O. Henry III runs through August 31st.
Admission to The Comedy Genius of O. Henry III is $12, with discounts available.

Coming in November…
The Mystery Genius
Of
Father Brown II
November 8th to November 16th
Tony Eckstat
"A very short Roman Catholic priest" who "had a face as round and dull as a Norfolk dumpling and had eyes as empty as the North Sea," is the way Gilbert Keith Chesterton first described Father Brown. The adventure was Valentin Follows a Curious Trail (later re-titled The Blue Cross) published in the June 23, 1910 edition of The Saturday Evening Post. It was the first of 52 short stories featuring the little priest. The stories were collected and republished in five editions between 1911 and 1935.
The Comedy Playhouse will present four ALL NEW Father Brown tales in The Mystery Genius of Father Brown II. All authors speak through their characters, and through Father Brown, Chesterton was able to express his very unique views of the world, and the concepts of good and evil.
The Comedy Playhouse will present The Mystery Genius of Father Brown II November 8th through November 16th . Admission is $12, with discounts available. Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm and Sunday afternoon at 3:00pm. (Only One Matinee)
