4th Annual Fox Tucson Theatre

Summer Classic Movie Series

 

(TUCSON, AZ) April 6, 2009 – For the fourth consecutive year since reopening, the Fox Tucson Theatre will screen a series of classic Hollywood films this summer. Nine (9) movies will be presented on Saturday nights at 7:30pm in June, July and August. The theme of the series this summer is “Women, Wars and Westerns”.

 

The films to be screened this summer include:

 

The Best Years of our Lives (1946) – June 13

The Searchers (1956) – June 20

The African Queen (1951) – June 27

The Great Escape (1963) – July 11

It Happened One Night (1934) – July 18

The Misfits (1961) – July 25

Sunset Boulevard (1950) – August 1

The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) – August 8

Dr. Strangelove or:

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) – August 15

 

Herb Stratford, the founder and former executive director of the Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation selected this summer’s film series films.

 

“These films had been on my list for awhile to screen at the Fox”. “With most of these films being screened in 35mm, it is a chance to see the classics in a classic venue, and get out of the heat for Tucson’s new summer tradition” said Stratford.
