Jordan Bradfield, in cooperation with ArtFare presents: Playing House

Playing House, a Dance Theatre piece, was conceptualized during Jordan Bradfield’s freshman year as a Dance major at the University of Arizona.  It all started with a family picture.  Jordan was struck with memories of the morning leading up to the picture being taken.

The full ballroom theater area is set up as the stage.  Chairs are placed throughout the space to create an open environment for the audience to move within.  A minimalist version of the main rooms of a home is represented.  At the entrance to the space a dinner table is placed with chairs and balloons decorating the top, as if a party were being thrown.

As the audience walks in, the dancers will be in place throughout, seeming almost like a living gallery. The audience will be encouraged and instructed to move throughout the space and acquaint themselves.  At show time the lights will switch to the center and the dancers will begin the show.

Every aspect of the performance is part of Jordan Bradfield’s art; from the costumes, to the make up, to the scenery, sewing original designed costumes and hand painting all of the furniture in a “Pop” influenced manner.

Most of the art designed and created for the play will be available as part of a silent auction at the end of the concert.

As part of the agreement for use of the space at ArtFare, Jordan will be donating time to the ArtFare summer arts program in the theatre arts component.  A piece of the artwork from the show will be donated to ArtFare, so that the experience created within that space can be remembered.
