Winding Road Theater Ensemble will launch its second season with the premiere of Ensemble member Toni Press-Coffman’s new play, Armor.
Eva Tessler directs this family drama with a social conscience. Set in Washington, D.C., Armor is about a brilliant budding cellist trying to make sense of her father’s involvement in a political battle over body armor for our troops in the Middle East and Afghanistan. The play is interspersed with cello and piano music that punctuate its emotional ebb and flow. Developed with a grant from the Sloan Foundation, Armor is the winner of the 2010 Arizona Theatre Company Playwriting Contest.
Armor will be presented at Zuzi’s Theater, 738 North Fifth Ave., Tucson. With a preview on Sept. 2, the show opens on Sept. 3, and runs Sept. 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19, 2010. All evening shows are at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday matinees are at 3 p.m. Tickets cost $18, with group, student, senior, military and theater artist discounts available for $15. Reservations can be made at www.windingroadtheater.org <http://www.windingroadtheater.org/> or by calling 520-401-3626.
