August 2011 IFASA Meeting Continues to Impress With Prestigious Speakers, Giveaways and Fun Open to the General Public


Where: Midtown Ward Six City Office Main Meeting Room, 3202 East 1st Street, Tucson, AZ 85716

When: Tuesday, August 16th, 2011 · 6:30pm – 9:30pm.  Please arrive early so the meeting can start on time.

Guest speakers include:

Film Distribution:

David Pike of the Arizona Underground Film Festival (http://www.azundergroundfilmfest.com/) and the Tucson Terrorfest (http://tucsonterrorfest.com/) will be back. David also works for Tucson’s only Indie DVD distribution company, BrinkDVD (www.brinkdvd.com) where he acquires films for distribution, does PR and manages accounts. David will give us an update on new and pre-exsisting methods of film distribution now that new media is becoming so prevalent.

TV News Panel:
Ever wondered what it was like to work in TV news? Our Keynote Presentation will include a panel discussion about TV news and what it's like to work in that aspect of our industry including:

·         TV reporter Allen “Big Al” Kath: who has been reporting on Tucson traffic since 1988 for KGUN 9 and listeners of 94.9 Mix-FM and 104.1, The Truth.

·         TV reporter Jessica Chapin: Who has worked for WMBB in Panama City, FL. and KGUN 9, reporting on everything from major hurricanes to SB 1070. She was the first reporter on scene during the Tucson shooting.

·         TV photographer and fellow filmmaker Andrew Bautista: Who was has previously been chief photographer for WMBB in Panama City, FL. And is currently a photographer for KGUN 9

·         TV reporter Claire Doan: who has also worked for the San Jose Mercury News, the Federal Communications Commission, CBS News at the White House, and most recently CNN in Atlanta, as part of the competitive Masters Fellowship Program, where she was a writer for the weekend edition of CNN Newsroom.

As usual there will be an open announcements period, an update from the board with more exciting news on current member benefits, and don’t forget our networking period directly after the meeting. Bring your business cards and headshots, etc.
