Tucson: Arizona Opera call for Supernumeraries

Arizona Opera

Supernumeraries

Have you (or someone you know) ever dreamed of being on the opera stage– but, well, can’t sing or have no prior performance experience?  Consider being a supernumerary, which is a non-singing, non-speaking volunteer role. (Think “extra.”)  Arizona Opera is looking for supernumeraries for our upcoming winter productions of “Madama Butterfly” and “Aida.”  For “Butterfly,” we are in need of young children – both boys and girls from the ages of five to seven – to audition for the role of Sorrow. Once the applicants have been identified, we will schedule a group audition. We are also looking for men to play Egyptian soldiers in the grand procession of “Aida.” There is no formal audition for these men; we will cast from applications. Rehearsals take place mostly on weekends, but there are a few weeknight dress rehearsals. No previous experience is necessary.
