Come audition for ReadOUT, ACTout, a staged reading of banned LGBTQ children's literature!

 

Location: School of Information Resources & Library Science (SIRLS) Multi-purpose Room, 1515 East 1st Street (near Cherry)

Time: Tuesday, 9/6, 6-8pm -- open auditions, drop by anytime

 

All ages, genders, races, & sexual orientations encouraged to audition.

You do not need to bring anything prepared. Auditionees will read from the script, which will be handed out at the auditions.

Performances will take place on the 27th of September.

 

ReadOUT, ACTout is a theatrical performance based on four commonly challenged children's books that feature alternative families and gender expressions. This production will not only draw attention to banned books week and the right to read, but will also serve to educate the University of Arizona campus about LGBTQ issues and help prevent bullying of those who are different.

 

The following books will be included to be read aloud as the actors perform: 
-And Tango Makes Three by Justin Richardson
-The Sissy Duckling by Harvey Fierstein 
-The Different Dragon by Jennifer Bryan 
-My Princess Boy by Cheryl Kilodavis
