A no holds-barred smash hit!
Winner of three Tony Awards, including "Best Musical." This silly and highly irreverant retelling of the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail features flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen and show-stopping musical numbers including "The Song That Goes Like This" and "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life!"
Spamalot Trivia!
The musical comedy SPAMALOT is "lovingly ripped off" from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The film is often regarded as being one of the funniest movies ever made, a rare timeless comedy, helped by the fact that most of the jokes aren't easily forgotten. Most of these hilarious moments are also repeated in the musical SPAMALOT. One of the most memorable moments occurs when we're first introduced to King Arthur. As he enters the frames of the movie, it's not hard to see that he's missing a horse. Instead, Arthur is followed around by a servant clapping two halves of a coconut together, recreating the sound of hoofs, whilst he "gallops" around on foot. This unforgettable depiction came about from the purely practical reason that the production simply couldn't afford real horses.
The Center for the Arts is located on the Pima Community College West Campus, 2202 W. Anklam Rd., Tucson, Arizona 85709. 520-206-6986
