ROADRUNNER THEATRE COMPANY

AUDITIONS FOR TENNESSEE WILLIAMS’

CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF

JANUARY 11-FEBRUARY 3, 2019

Roadrunner Theatre Company announces auditions for the first in its series of contemporary classics. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Williams’ twentieth century masterpiece, is an audience favorite and an actor’s dream. It showcases characters “revealed in the altogether of their atavistic impulses: the will to keep living and the fear of dying…motivated by the elements that keep prime-time soaps spinning season after season: power, sex and money.” The play will run for twelve performances over four weekends beginning January 11, 2019. Rehearsals will be 3-4 times/week beginning in mid-November, with breaks for Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Some roles have already been cast. The roles available are:

                             -Brick, male lead, late 20s-30s

                             -Mae, female supporting, 40s

-Rev. Tooker/Dr. Baugh, male supporting, 35-65

Roadrunner intends to present this play at the highest level of quality, with competitive actor stipends; professional quality set design and production values; extensive publicity and promotion; and the use of dedicated theater and ancillary space for performance and rehearsals. Mark Klugheit will direct, and two of his recent projects, Yasmina Reza’s God of Carnage and Rebecca Gilman’s Luna Gale, have received a total of seven MAC AWARD nominations (“Best of Tucson Theater”) including three for Best Actor and two for Best Director.

Auditions are Saturday, March 31 from 1:00 to 4 pm and Monday, April 2 from 6 to 9 pm, at Roadrunner Theatre Company, 8892. East Tanque Verde Road. Actors may attend both audition sessions, or either one. Callbacks, if necessary, will be scheduled later.

Short dramatic monologues are welcome but not required. Sides will be available in hard copy at the auditions but also will be supplied electronically approximately one week in advance to those who have requested them from the director.

If auditioning, please bring with you (hard copy) a head shot, CV, and a written list of all conflicts between November 17, 2018 and February 3, 2019.

Those considering auditioning should feel free to email director Mark Klugheit (mklugheit@comcast.net) with any questions.
