STORIES THAT SOAR! BRINGS TO LIFE YOUNG GIRL'S SENTIMENTAL STORY

Best of Stories That Soar! showcases student authors' fiction and non-fiction stories.

Sabrina Hartzell, a student at Mesquite Elementary in Vail, fed the Magic Box a very special story last November.  This story is about a girl who loves her dad and a year ago he got sent to Afghanistan, because he is in the army.  "The reason my dad is my hero is because he is out there fighting for our freedom and doing all this."  Hartzell's heartfelt words were performed at her school on December 19, 2007 and since then it has changed her life.

Sabrina felt that this story not only impacted her, but her classmates as well, and she was inspired to write.  Her father heard this great news from overseas and was in awe of what his daughter had to say about him.  As the Best of Stories that Soar! approaches, Sabrina and her father learned that this is one of the stories to be performed May 10 at the Stevie Eller Theatre.

Mr. Hartzell has since returned from Afghanistan and both he and Sabrina plan on attending the matinee performance of the Best of Stories that Soar!  He looks forward to the actors' interpretation of his daughter's earnest story of the realities of families and war.

There will be two performances of the Best of Stories that Soar! on May 10, a matinee at 2:00 P.M. and an evening at 7:00 P.M.  Both performances will be held at the Stevie Eller Dance Theatre on the University of Arizona campus (across from McKale Center). All are welcome to a preshow reception which begins an hour before curtain time for each performance and includes free refreshments, balloons, face painting, raffles, and a silent auction.

This is a family-friendly community event for all ages.  Tickets are currently on sale at Antigone Books, 411 N. 4th Avenue, and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkles Toy Store, 4811 E Grant Rd # 151, Tucson, AZ. For additional ticket information, please call 975-9970 or 891-6841.
