Beowulf Alley Theatre Company seeks designers, stage manager(s) and stage crew for the 2008-2009 season of plays: Wait Until Dark; Noche de los Muertos; Dinner with Friends; 3 Guys in Drag Selling Their Stuff; and Proof. For information about the scheduling of these productions, please check our website at www.beowulfalley.org. Wait Until Dark, the opening play of the season, has the most immediate needs. If you are at least 15 years old, have your own transportation and the time to commit, we invite you to come play and learn with us. Experience is always desired but we are happy to mentor and assist anyone who would like to learn, can follow through and wants to work on a collaborative, fun production team. We are able to pay small stipends and offer comp tickets in addition to offering the opportunity to be creative and make some new friends.

These positions are needed for each production.

Stage manager (some experience, strong organizational skills) are needed from 6-8 weeks prior to the opening and continuing through closing of the play for rehearsals and performances and production meetings

The positions that begin about 2-3 weeks prior to opening night and continuing through closing of the play are:

Board operator (lighting and sound) for rehearsals and performances

Assistant stage manager for rehearsals and performances

Stage hand for rehearsals and performances

Wardrobe assistant (mostly needed on at top of each performance for costume touch-ups and weekly for laundering)

Some positions begin 6-8 weeks prior to opening night and are not needed once the play has opened. They are:

Set designer (for design and some building/painting, production meetings and tech rehearsals)

Lighting designer (for design and some hang/focus, production meetings and tech rehearsals)

Costume designer (for design and some sewing, production meetings and tech rehearsals)

Props master (to obtain set dressing and hand props, production meetings and tech rehearsals)

The positions that begin about 3-4 weeks prior to opening night and are not needed once the play has opened are:

Carpenter/painter/scenic artist

Seamstress

Assistance is also needed the weekend of the lighting hang and focus about a week and a half prior to opening.

Please contact us at theatre@beowulfalley.org or call 622-4460. We’ll be happy to answer your questions or set up a time to meet and discuss your availability and skills.
