Big Man, Big Voices, Big Name Guests! Desert Voices is 20!

"Big" is the colossal word describing Desert Voices' 20th anniversary season: a big man (we all know and have seen our director, Chris Tackett), leading big voices (we are over 50 voices strong this year), and starring big name guest entertainers (Lisa Otey, Diane Van Deurzen, and Namoli Brennet). Big are the performances we have planned for this, our Platinum Year.

We celebrate the opening of our 20th season with Down the Chimney: holiday favorites with a festive flair. Grace St. Paul's Episcopal Church (2331 E. Adams Street) is the spot for our first holiday show in three years. Join us on Saturday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. or Sunday, December 7 at 3:00 p.m. and reminisce with us as we bring back some of the seasonal favorites from the past two decades; and share a special gift for our audiences – the debut of a new song written especially for our anniversary by Tucson's own rock star, Namoli Brennet!

What happens when Lisa Otey and Diane Van Deurzen join us in a show? Fun, frolic, and who-knows-what! In the Basement (February 7, 6:00 p.m., The Historic Y Hall) is the title of our annual Cabaret & Silent Auction event; and as last year, it will be a somewhat naughty evening. Featuring a thrilling piano solo by DV's accompanist Alex Tentser, complimentary hors d'hoeuvres and spirits, and hot auction action, 'BIG' may be just too small a word to describe the evening!

How could we bring the curtain down on this fabulous season without bringing back Namoli for Out and Proud – a celebration of the best of 20 glorious years. Add to that music from 25 years of GALA (the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses) and we have yet another BIG show. The Proscenium Theatre, Pima Community College West Campus, will be the venue for these two performances, Saturday, April 18, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 19, 3:00 p.m.

In honor of our 20th anniversary, we have special rates of 2 tickets for $20 for December and April performances; so bring a family member, friend, or co-worker and take advantage of the special pricing. Cabaret tickets sold separately are $30 but with a season ticket package you save $10! Season tickets (all three shows) are 2 for $80, a savings of $40 – a big deal!

If you did not receive a season ticket letter in the mail last week, check our website at www.desertvoices.org and you can print out an order form. Or call the office at 520-791-9662.

The fun begins in December – don't miss it!
