Beowulf Alley Theatre Company presents Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen and The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler by Jeff Whitty in repertory this weekend. Times and dates are:

 

 

Thursday, September 13 at 7:30PM – Further Adventures Friday, September 14 at 7:30PM – Hedda Gabler Saturday, September 15 at 7:30PM – Further Adventures Sunday, September 16 at 2:30PM– Hedda Gabler

 

 

All performances are at Beowulf Alley Theatre, 11 S. 6th Avenue in downtown Tucson. Tickets are available at the door or online at beowulfalley.org (click tickets at the top of the home page). Prices are $20, $18 for teachers, seniors and military personnel and $8 for students. 

 

Hedda Gabler is one of literature’s most fascinating tragic characters. often referred to as “the female Hamlet.” Sex, suicide, art and manipulation lead to terrible consequences for a woman looking for “one true act of beauty.”

 

The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler take our eponymous heroine into a literary afterlife, where both she and Mammy from Gone With the Wind seek to divest themselves of their characterizations in a comic, madcap romp by the co-author of Avenue Q.
