LOCAL CELEB LENDS HIS TALENTS TO ‘HOW TO TALK MINNESOTAN – THE WINTER MUSICAL’ AT RED BARN THEATRE COMANY

Tucson, AZ – The Red Barn Theatre Company announced this week that their upcoming production of How To Talk Minnesotan – The Winter Musical will feature the vocal and comedic talents of long time Tucson radio personality Bobby Rich from 94.9MIxFM and The Bobby Rich Morning Mix.  “We are thrilled that Bobby has agreed to be a part of the show…” said Scott Berg, “I was talking to the cast about who we might use to record the radio announcer dialog, it is an integral part of the show so we wanted someone who would be able to pull it off.  Almost simultaneously, we all looked at each other and said “Bobby Rich”.  So, I emailed him without much hope of it happening.”  A couple of days later Berg received an email from Rich and the first line was “I love it”.  He was in.  “We met the next week and recorded the dialog…” Berg continues, “which wasn’t the easiest because a good portion of it is a list of school closures, which entailed pronouncing names of towns in Minnesota.”  Berg ads, “That’s not an easy task for a native Minnesotan, but Bobby nailed it.  He was great.”.

How To Talk Minnesotan – The Winter Musical is written by Howard Mohr, and based on his popluar book by the same name.  RBTC staged the original How To Talk Minnesotan – The Musical last season to sold out audiences both in Tucson and Green Valley.  Set in the Lost Walleye Lodge in Northern Minnesota, Ed and Lucy Humde, their daughter Darlene, handyman Russ Renner, and Miller Johnson and Donny Elmstad give vacationers lessons on talking like native Minnesotans and enlighten them on the culture and customs.  It is a funny, lighthearted look at the oddities and idiosyncrasies of our neighbors to the north.  Featuring music by Drew Jansen with lyrics written by Jansen and Howard Mohr, it is a truly entertaining night at the Lost Walleye Lodge for the whole family.  “With Bobby adding his wonderful voice and comedic timing, the show is bound to be a hit” says Joanne Anderson, founder and artistic director of RBTC.

How To Talk Minnesotan – The Winter Musical runs November 8th through December 1st, 2013.  Showtimes are Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 5:00 pm.  Ticket prices are $16 for general admission, $13 for students, military and children.  Friday nights are Frugal Fridays with all tickets just  $10.  For reservations call 887-6239 soon.  The Red Barn Theatre Company is located at 948 N. Main, Tucson, AZ  85705.  One block south of Speedway on the corner of Main and 1st Street.
