Subject: Ballet Tucson presents "Phantom of the Opera" in 2017 Fall Concert

For the 2017 Opening Night Gala and Fall Concert, Ballet Tucson presents Phantom of the Opera as part of an exciting triple bill of works selected by Founding Artistic Director Mary Beth Cabana. Murder and mayhem are the order of the day at the Paris Opera Ballet in Ballet Tucson's wildly popular, original work loosely based on the 1925 silent film. Choreography is by Chieko Imada (Assistant Artistic Director), Mary Beth Cabana, and Daniel Precup (Ballet Master).

Also on the program is the Ballet Tucson premiere of George Balanchine's Walpurgisnacht Ballet by the immortal genius and foremost dance maker of the 20th century.  This enduring ballet is a joyous revelry set to excerpts of Gounod's Faust.

Rounding out the program is Paquita—Grand Pas Classique.  A cornerstone of classical ballet repertoire, Paquita displays Spanish style dance infused with bold expression, technical virtuosity and spirited music by Ludwig Minkus.
