Subject: "Dia de los Muertos, The Musical" Opens Oct. 1st at Live Theatre Workshop
Live Theatre Workshop's Family Series proudly presents
Dia de los Muertos, The Musical
An original story and music by Michael Martinez
This new musical celebrates El Dia de Los Muertos from a new perspective. The audience travels into the world of the dead with a young woman grieving the loss of her beloved pet. She discovers that what she once thought to be scary and dark can be beautiful and kind. She makes an unlikely monster friend who teachers her how to celebrate life and make her way back to the world of the living before she becomes trapped in the world of the dead forever.
"When I first wrote the script and music for this show, I was worried about the play being too dark for kids," said Director Michael Martinez. "But as this amazing cast began to bring the play to life, I was reminded of what drew me to the idea in the first place. Dia De Los Muertos is a celebration of life: colorful, energetic, and only a little bit sad. You can't help but fall in love with these characters and I expect to see people dancing in the aisles."
