Open Casting Call for Media Arts BFA Senior Films

Media Arts BFA Seniors will hold an open casting call to audition roles for the 14 fiction short films being produced over the course of the year.  The auditions will take place Saturday, September 12th and Sunday, September 13th in Harvill 104 (1103 E. 2nd Street) at the UA. Actors will be scheduled in advance to attend time slots between 9am and 5pm. Actors will perform “cold” readings with the sides made available at the audition, and are welcome to come earlier to review the sides.

The production period ranges from mid-October through mid-December; exact shooting dates depend on the individual production.  Pay is negotiable, depending on the project. However, most actors will work on a volunteer basis and receive a DVD of the competed film.  SAG actors must be willing to work under the Student Film Agreement. Actors are encouraged to bring a headshot and resume to the audition.

The films include a range of styles and need male and female actors of various ages and ethnicities. Additionally, the films themselves cover a broad range of topics and genres. A brief reel of our previous work will be available to view at the audition. Additionally, synopses of the projects will also be available for review at that time.

The films will be presented at the public screening event "I Dream in Widescreen" at the Fox Theatre in May 2010 and then go on the film festival circuit.  Past BFA senior films include 2006 graduate Johnny Pulley's MOVE ME which screened at the Sundance Film Festival. Several of our junior BFA films have already entered the film festival circuit.

To schedule an audition, email Media Arts BFA senior Monique Dias at: mdias@email.arizona.edu
