Volunteers and possibly paid staff wanted for unique film project in November. The film is part concert-film (Calexico at the Rialto), part documentary about the 20th Annual All Souls Procession, with other thematic elements related to the collision of cultures that happen at the US/Mexico border, especially around our attitudes towards death. Looking for production assistants of all types, we need both brawn and brains and everything in between, grips, camera department help, carpenters, make-up, scenic artists, sound people, cooks, runners, researchers, etc. during the weekend of November 7/8.

The more experience you have making films the better, but if you have none, don't let that keep you from showing us what you got! This is a professional production with participation from industry professionals, but the budget is low, with proceeds to partially benefit the Rialto Theatre, Loft Cinema and Many Mouths One Stomach (organizers of the All Souls Procession). Put together a brief resume of your experience relevant to the project and come to a meeting at the Rialto Theatre on Tuesday, September 1 at 6:30 to learn more about volunteer and other opportunities.

Feel free to forward resumes or other info in advance of the meeting to douglas.biggers@gmail.com

Director - Danny Vinik

Over the last 2 decades, Danny Vinik has been involved with all aspects of Indie and Digital film production. Danny studied filmmaking at UCSC with Eli Hollander and at NYU with Jim Jarmusch. During the 90's Danny worked as director of digital development at Chris Hanley's Muse Films, during the production of among others, Buffalo 66, The Virgin Suicides, American Psycho, and Bully. In 2002, Danny created Brink Films and produced the drug comedy Spun starring Mickey Rourke, Jason Schwartzman and Britanny Murphy. Spun was shot in Super16 and scanned at high res to digital. Once in a digital state it was edited and then blown up to 35mm. Spun was one of the first feature films to be edited in high res, forgoing the traditional Avid low res edit and Edit Decision List (EDL) to cut the film, in favor of a completely Non-Linear (NLE) system where what you see is what you get. Spun is in the Guinness book of world records for the film with the most edits (over 5000).

Danny has been an online pioneer since the inception of the web, as we know it. He is widely credited with, if not inventing, at least perfecting, the cyberbar. He is a writer, film producer, nightclub promoter, film distributor and web developer. His novel BLUE PAIGE was published in 1999. He directed the critically respected documentary TV Party in 2005. His company BRINK MEDIA creates award winning web solutions and marketing campaigns for a wide variety of clients including Kevin Spacey's filmmaker's community site TriggerStreet.com, Christy Turlington and the country of Holland.
