These three plays will be presented in a special Readers Theater event on Saturday, September 26th as part of SSA's Wrangling with Writing conference. The audience will then decide the placement of each play for the awards.

Once a year, the Society of Southwestern Authors sponsors a two-day Writing Conference featuring experts on topics of professional interest to writers of every genre and every level. This conference is open to members and nonmembers alike.
Pitch your projects in one-on-one interviews to Editors, Agents, and Film & TV producers, attend Workshops on writing, publishing and marketing—and socialize with writers, agents, editors, publishers, film producers, and vendors.
Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27th
Cost: SSA Members: $275 Nonmembers: $350 (NOTE: no price increase from the past few years!)
Conference fee includes these meals: Continental breakfast Sat & Sun, plus lunch on Sat and Sun, AND Saturday night dinner featuring Readers’ Theater performances of finalists in our Playwriting Contest.

One Act Plays 30-40 minutes in length, maximum 8 characters

(SSA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and educating writers—fees offset contest expenses)
Prizes: 1st—$300 2nd—$200 3rd—$100
Three finalists will receive free conference admission, including hotel accommodations, to the annual Wrangling With Writing conference sponsored by the Society to be held September 26th and 27th in Tucson, Arizona at the Palo Verde Holiday Inn. The plays will be read on Saturday night and audience members will choose the first, second, and third place winners. All plays will also be considered for the SSA's ongoing Readers Theater series.
