Combine the great stage tradition of English farce and the real world fussiness of stuffed-shirt golfers at a private country club and you’ve got an entertaining night of theater rampant with opportunities for golfing puns – getting teed off, acting like a swinger, etc.
Invisible Theatre couldn’t resist, either, mounting a production of “The Fox on the Fairway” by Ken Ludwig, directed by Susan Claassen, as this company’s personal springtime welcome to warmer weather. Opening night is Wednesday, April 24.
Filled with mistaken identities, slamming doors, and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, it's a furiously paced comedy that recalls the Marx Brothers' classics!
A pair of arch-rivals go head to head over their annual golf tournament. Hopes are dashed and domestic happiness threatened when a star player switches sides in this charmingly madcap adventure about love, life, and man's eternal affair of the heart with golf.
‘“The Fox on the Fairway’ is phenomenally funny!” said New Jersey’s Star- Ledger. “A grand slam…a joy to behold!” added the Washington City Paper.
The Invisible Theatre cast includes William Hubbard, Lori Hunt, Victoria McGee, RD Mower, Lucille Petty and Jack Neubeck.
“The Fox on the Fairway” previews Tuesday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m., opens Wednesday, April 24, ad 7:30 p.m. and continues at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays-Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays, through May 12.
Tickets are $18 preview, $28 general admission, group discount for 10 or more. For details and reservations, 520-882-9721, www.invisibletheatre.com
