Tucson, Arizona-- Pima Community College performing arts department presents the PCC Dance concert Dance Fusion II, under the direction of Aurora Gonçalves-Shaner. Dance Fusion II is the second show in the Fusion series of the dance department at Pima. It embraces current, contemporary and futuristic choreographic themes and concepts.  Dancers and faculty perform various dance styles fused together in a melting pot of movements from classical to contemporary to cultural. A vibrant blend of physicality, musicality and passion is demonstrated by innovative, unique and unexpected choreography with contrasting music. The eclectic selections from the program include the fusion of ballet, jazz, modern and more.

Director Gonçalves-Shaner is planning a tribute to mothers with video and dancing. The program also showcases several student works. She remarks, “This is a well-blended show with a variety of styles and vibrant costumes. I choreographed a piece in which the movement resembles the work mechanics of a clock. The piece, titled Timelessness, represents the cycle of life and our never-ending progression. Another interesting piece is Syllabary in which the choreography takes its inspiration from the letters of the alphabet. The students and I collaborated and created movement to the shapes of the letters. Also of note is a compelling dance in the program that fuses ballet with a Viennese waltz.”

Pima Community College Center for the Arts is located on the West Campus just west of downtown and I-10 on St. Mary’s Rd, which turns into Anklam Rd. Box office hours are Tuesday-Friday, noon to 5 p.m. and one hour prior to performance.
