Tucson, Arizona-- Pima Community College Music presents the PCC Orchestra in
a Mother's Day concert, under the direction of Dr. Alexander Tentser. The
program features ballet music by Charles Gounod from the opera FAUST, and
two pieces by Bedrich Smetana from the opera THE BARTERED BRIDE. Other
program selections include Ludwig van Beethoven's "Finale" from the Eroica
Symphony, and "Concerto Grosso" for strings by Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni.
The PCC Orchestra is made up of college students and community adults.
Tentser came to America in 1990, after graduating from the highly recognized
Russian Music Academy in Moscow, Russia. He conducted the production of the
oratorio "Esther" with the Jill Wieck Singers and Orchestra in March 2009,
in Tucson. He directs the PCC Orchestra, conducts Arizona Balalaika
Orchestra and teaches piano and other music courses at the West and Desert
Vista Campuses.
Pima Community College Center for the Arts is located on the West Campus
just west of downtown and I-10 on St. Mary's Rd, which turns into Anklam Rd.
Box office hours are Tuesday-Friday, noon to 5 p.m. and one hour prior to
performance.
