Audition Notice

Open auditions for the final show of The Community Players 2015-16 season will be held Monday and Tuesday, May 9 and 10th, with callbacks being on Wednesday May 11th if necessary.  The show will feature the top three finishers in The First Annual New One Act Play Festival.  Playwrights from around the state were encouraged to submit their previously unpublished, unproduced one act plays, which were in turn scored by a panel of independent judges.  The prize for the top three scoring plays was having the world premiere of the play produced by TCP.

The brief description and the character breakdowns for the top three plays are as follows:

Damascus by Vince Flynn

A man falls in love with his daughter’s teacher, but there is a hitch…she’s a nun.

Ann O'Brian: an attractive nun in her thirties; intelligent, sensitive; high school English teacher at Carrie's school.

Jack Gaffney: a lawyer in his forties; charismatic, self-assured. Carrie's father.

Carrie Gaffney: a girl, fifteen, or actor who can play fifteen; a high school student. Enthusiastic; innocent rather than cynical.

Gina Bommarito: sixties-seventies. A nun and a high school science teacher at Carrie's school. A no-nonsense realist.

Free by Leslie Powell

How far would you go to protect your lover? But is it protection she wants? or vengeances? Two women lovers face a dilemma when Lynn's ex-boyfriend is freed from jail and moves back home, too close for comfort. Will the two women ever be free of him and fear? And at what price will their freedom come?

Lynn:  in her 20's  a bit insecure, a bit unsure of herself.  Vulnerable, struggling to be strong.

Jeanette:  30's -40's, substantial, worldly, loving, mature, reasonable.

Kyle:  late 20's to late 30's good-looking, charming, cocky, dangerous, sinister.
