Tucson's 12-piece powerhouse soul sensations, The Socials, are making their Gaslight Music Hall debut when they hit the stage with their popular two hour soul and Motown revue, "Essential Soul". This wall of sound is built on a solid foundation and includes a three-man horn section (Kevin Shumaker, Salvador Lopez, Rick Peron); piano (Richard Katz); a thunderous rhythm section featuring Aaron Emery on Drums and Sam Eagon on Bass (both of The LPs/Ronstadt Generations), master percussionist Eric Hines; and Mike Blommer (Bad News Blues Band) on lead guitar. Rounding out this sonic dream team are four master vocalists: Rebecca Carlson (Jive Bombers/Jane Crowe Band); Charlie Hall (The Gaslight Theatre/Blues Brothers Tribute); Genevieve Gaus (Genevieve & The LPs) and Alex Flores (Bad News Blues Band/Ronstadt Generations) who also plays tenor sax. All vocalists share duties in recreating those famous harmonies that have come to define this timeless era.

 

The Socials create a unique sound and energy from the vocabulary of soul, R&B, Motown, funk and blues from the 60's to today. The show will feature music from Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, The Temptations, Jackson 5, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, James Brown, Sam & Dave, Otis Redding, Chaka Kahn, Sly & the Family Stone and many more. The Socials are proud to carry the tradition of Soul forward, having been heavily influenced and enriched by the great musicians who forged the genre all those years ago.
