UA’s Studio Series presents The First Celestial Adventure of
Mr. Antipyrine, Fire Extinguisher, or words, Words, POOF!
A student-devised piece - directed by Dr. Melissa C. Thompson
The First Celestial Adventure of Mr. Antipyrine, Fire Extinguisher, or words, Words, POOF! is a high-energy, fast-paced performance event based on the Futurist works of Filippo Marinetti and Dada works of Tristan Tzara. These two early art movements, Futurism and Dada, rebelled against comfortable, middle-class theatrical traditions and are responsible for the avant-garde performance innovations, and ...words, Words, POOF! carries on the legacy of experimentation and throwing tradition out the window. The show concentrates on a lightning-fast series of short performances that focus on spectacle and sensation, seeking to baffle, to anger, and to delight the audience in turns, demonstrating that art should be, above all, a new and exciting sensory experience.
