WAYPOINT THEATRE COMPANY TO PRESENT TWO FREE CHRISTMAS COMEDIES TO BENEFIT SEVERAL LOCAL OUTREACH MINISTRIES--

NATIVITY ON THE SQUARE & CHRISTMAS CLASSICS

Friday, Dec. 12 at 7pm, Saturday, Dec. 13 @ 3pm and Sunday, Dec. 14 at 3pm

Hosted by Higher Ground Resources at Wakefield Middle School

101 W. 44th Street, Tucson, AZ  85713

Waypoint Theatre and Family Life Radio will be producing two Christmas short comedies for the whole family with carols of the Season for one weekend only, hosted by Higher Ground Resources at Wakefield Middle School. Total running time is one hour.

Christmas Classics by Ruth and Charlie Jones is a lightening, side-splitting comedic dash through all the Christmas classics and traditions with four actors including A Dickens' Christmas Carol, A Christmas Story, It's a Wonderful Life and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas—in five minutes or less and features Waypoint regulars Al Baumrucker, Shaylynn Lakser, Sarah Deardorff and newcomer Lance Yarborough.

The figures of a public crèche come to life on Christmas Eve in the comedy/drama Nativity on the Square in a zany attempt to discover their real identities.  When an inebriated homeless woman drifts in looking for a warm place to sleep, she ends up explaining the Nativity to them that is both comic and deeply moving.  Nativity on the Square is written by multi-award winning playwright Tom S. Long and features Waypoint regulars Sheri Aken, Michael Nicolosi and Waypoint Founder/Artistic Director, Melanie David, who also directs.

There are a limited number of free tickets for each performance, however seating is limited and tickets are required for admission.  Free tickets are available online at Waypoint's website:  www.waypoint-theatre.org. A love offering will be taken to offset production costs.

In community partnership, Waypoint will be underwriting the Christmas show to benefit Gospel Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, Teen Challenge, GAP Ministries, Miracle Center and Turn Your Life Around. In addition, Waypoint will be hosting an unwrapped new toy drive to benefit Youth Haven Ranch for the Saturday, December 13th performance.  All are non profit, local agencies that focus on managing life-controlling problems including alcohol and drug abuse from a faith-based perspective. This is in harmony with Waypoint, a faith-based theater based in Tucson and serving the community for over ten years. In the past decade, Waypoint has partnered and given back to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson, Literary Volunteers of Arizona and ALS.
