Hello NALIP members & Friends,

I'm currently in pre-production of La Venganza, a Spanish language
feature film scheduled for production in Tucson & Southern Arizona
during October/November 2006.

I would like your help in finding several experienced Spanish-speaking
actors for the following characters:

El Chofer (Driver) - Male (18-55 Yrs old) He is a cunning man. Besides
being the driver and personal bodyguard to a powerful woman, the
driver provides important information for Ramon, a ruthless criminal.

Abogado (Family Attorney) - Male (27-55 Yrs. old) - Full of ambition,
the attorney works against the family he is hired to protect.

Lisa (DEA Agent) - Female (26-36 Yrs. old) Intelligent, tough and
independent DEA agent, Lisa feels she has something to prove in a
department full of testosterone. Her methods are usually more
effective than her partners would like to admit.

Mark (DEA Agent) - Male (25-35 Yrs. old) Full of machismo attitude and
contradictions, Mark clearly sees himself as a good guy out destined
to eliminate the criminal element.

Undocumented Woman - (16-45 Yrs. old) She has been locked away and
abandoned by her coyote with a child suffering from extreme dehydration.

Undocumented Man - (18-65 Yrs. old) He is the unofficial spokesperson
of a group of people that have been locked away and abandoned by
their coyote.

Sales Clerk - (18-28 Yrs. old) She is a prissy woman with an attitude.
She is the ultimate class and fashion snub.

Samba Dancer - (16-36 Yrs. old) She is an experienced samba dancer and
her thrilling and sexy performance is showcased in an important scene
of the film.

I hope you can help me find experienced Spanish-speaking actors and

Subject: BASH Public Reading FREE

Coyote Ramblers Performing Artists and Artfare/The Muse Present
A FREE Public Reading this Sunday, October 1, at 2 pm, of
Bash
By Neil LaBute
Directed by Ken Tesoriere

This rehearsed public reading of Bash begins Coyote Ramblers Free Monthly Reading Series on first Sundays, of theater plays that are often provocative reflections of our times or lost classics.

Author of Bash, Neil LaBute, is often hailed by critics as a brilliant dramatic satirist with caustic wit in his theater and film works.  Besides Bash, he has written This Is How It Goes, Filthy Talk for Troubled Times, Autobahn, Fat Pig, The Shape of Things, and others, and his films, In The Company of Men, Your Friends and Neighbors, and others.

Bash recounts three darkly brilliant personal accounts - In Iphigenia In Orem, a Utah businessman (Clay Utley) confides in a stranger about a chilling secret crime, in Medea Redux a woman (Dallas Thomas) recounts her complex and tragic relationship with a school teacher, and in Gaggle of Saints, a young couple (Marissa Garcia and Clay Utley) separately recount violent events on their anniversary weekend.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear these provocative, enlightening, and entertaining stories FREE this Sunday, October 1, at 2pm sharp at 55 N. 6th Avenue (across from the Ronstadt Bus Center), downtown.  Light refreshments and snacks provided.  Plenty of easy parking available nearby on Sundays.  Call 682-3224 for any further details or reservations (not required).

Text Box: Tunnel of Oppression Auditions

TONIGHT

Wednesday, September 27, 2006

7:00-9:00PM

El Portal Conference Center (first floor)

501 N. Highland Avenue

Questions: tunnel@life.arizona.edu

This year_s Tunnel of Oppression planning committee is trying something new _ AUDITION WORKSHOPS. In order to maintain consistency and high-quality, we are looking for actors who are available to perform their role for the entire run of this year_s Tunnel (October 24-26, 2006 from 6pm-10pm). If you are unable to commit to the entire run but are still interested in acting, you are encouraged to audition. We are looking to double or triple cast each scene (swings/understudies) in order to ensure all actors have physical as well as mental breaks during the three night run. Preference will be given to those able to perform all three nights; however, we will still consider other actors.

At the workshop, you will be provided with brief scripts (sides) and the scene director will work with you and other actors to block & read through the scene. Casting decisions will be based on your interest, your skill and the scene/director_s needs.

ALL interested actors/actresses are invited to audition. The primary audience who usually attends the Tunnel of Oppression consists primarily of traditionally college-aged students. As a result, most scenes require actors who appear to be similar in age or could be student peers. Some roles allow for flexibility of casting (either gender, etc.) but others require specific _types_: men and students of color are especially encouraged to consider auditioning.

Below is a list of scene topics & actors required:

Privilege

1 actor (gender non-specific) _ will facilitate a privilege walk activity

Socio-Economic Class

1 actor (gender non-specific) _ will portray a homeless person/panhandler

Border Issues

2 actors (gender non-specific) _ will portray border patrol agents protecting the border from illegal entry

Homophobia

2 actors (gender non-specific) _ will portray people who don_t understand why a person would _choose_ to be gay

Relationship Violence

3 actors (female) _ will recite true monologues about surviving domestic abuse

1 actor (male) _ will recite true monologues about surviving domestic abuse

Body Image

2-7 actors (male) _ 1 actor will portray a student trying to gain muscle weight while the others will _rank_ people_s appearance as they enter the room

1 actor (female) _ will portray a student self-conscious about her weight and how her clothes fit

Genocide

2 actors (male) _ will portray _Nazi_ guards

1 actor (gender non-specific) _ will speak about genocide

Race & Racial Discrimination

5 actors (gender non-specific, representing different racial groups) _ each actor will recite a monologue about issues that arise due to their actual or perceived racial identity. Specifically, actors are needed who can REPRESENT the following communities: Asian/Pacific Islander, African/Black American, Native American/American Indian, Chicano/Hispano, and Multiracial.

BORDERLANDS THEATER TO PRESENT THE PLAY ¡GAYTINO! BY DAN GUERRERO, OCTOBER 27&29, AT THE LEO RICH THEATER, 260 SOUTH CHURCH.

“A man who will move you…very funny…viva the fabulous Guerrero!"

 -LA Daily News

"Storytelling and comic timing superb…explodes with a playful performance…a boundless force of nature!"

-Orange County Register

When his legendary father Lalo Guerrero was composing classic Mexican anthems like "Cancion Mexicana" and "Nunca Jamas," little Danny Guerrero was lip-syncing in his bedroom to Broadway musical comedy albums. And when Lalo finally made it to Broadway with his music in “Zoot Suit,” Dan had moved from song-and-dance man to Broadway talent agent. In Gaytino! Dan Guerrero takes us on a remarkable fifty-year journey, from Cesar Chavez to Stephen Sondheim, from LA to NY and back, and from the back of the bus to the front of American pop culture. Touching, hilarious and absolutely one-of-a-kind, this sixty-plus Chicano finally brings his two fascinating worlds together in this riveting solo show con musica, of course!   ¡Gaytino! is presented in collaboration with the Puro Mexicano Tucson Film Festival (11/1-11/3 at the Fox Theater).

Actor needed for lead role in student short film to be shot in early
November.

<mailto:slamkab%40email.arizona.edu> preferably, or blackelvis81@yahoo.com
<mailto:blackelvis81%40yahoo.com> , include headshot and contact info.

Breakdown

Subject B-493, age 35 ? 40 years. B-493 is a middle aged caucasian man. He
is a Schizophrenic Catatonic Type meaning he does not speak. He exhibits
echopraxia a behavior, common in Schizophrenic Catatonics, that involves
mimicking and reproducing the movements and mannerisms of other people. He
was born in an asylum where is mother was interned for
indefinite period of time. She was raped and impregnated by an overzealous
orderly who was his father. When he reached adulthood his captors outfitted
his
head with a set of permanent bionic ears, the ears were the result of
work done by military scientists commissioned to spearhead a Sense
Modification Program. The program was started to find ways to utilize and
modify new and
existing technologies to improve covert operatives in the field.

The most important element of B-493 is his bionic ears. They are the source
of much pain and discomfort in his already miserable life. The slightest
aural disturbance causes him immeasurable pain. In order for him to sleep he
must destroy the buzzing fly that has crept into his decrepit cell.

Bellerophon Media, Lost River Productions and SurealWorks announce the Official Premiere of the comedic short “Not 2B Toyed With”.

Obsessive STAR WARS toy collector Troy is about to discover the power of the dark side when his nephew invades his perfectly packaged world. What’s a toy supposed to do?

Tucson, AZ [October 7, 2006] Award winning filmmakers and television producers enlisted elite film crew and cast to film the short production "Not 2B Toyed With”.  Executive Producer Steve Bayless is an Emmy-Award winning editor.  His work is seen each week on PBS stations nationwide in the The Desert Speaks series produced via KUAT-TV, the PBS affiliate in Tucson, AZ.  Steve has written the 12-minute script as homage to his friend Rusty Smith, who passed away 3 years ago. Rusty, who suffered from the debilitating disease Cystic Fibrosis, was an avid STAR WARS collector since childhood. He and Steve had hoped to one day produce their conspired concept for this short.

Join us for the first public screening at The Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway, and help support the Tucson Cinema Foundation. ($3 suggested donation) Festivities will start Saturday October 7th, at 11am. There will be special guests and more, so bring your cameras!
