BORDERLANDS THEATER TO PRESENT THE PLAY ¡GAYTINO! BY DAN GUERRERO, OCTOBER 27&29, AT THE LEO RICH THEATER, 260 SOUTH CHURCH.
A man who will move you
very funny
viva the fabulous Guerrero!"
-LA Daily News
"Storytelling and comic timing superb
explodes with a playful performance
a boundless force of nature!"
-Orange County Register
When his legendary father Lalo Guerrero was composing classic Mexican anthems like "Cancion Mexicana" and "Nunca Jamas," little Danny Guerrero was lip-syncing in his bedroom to Broadway musical comedy albums. And when Lalo finally made it to Broadway with his music in Zoot Suit, Dan had moved from song-and-dance man to Broadway talent agent. In Gaytino! Dan Guerrero takes us on a remarkable fifty-year journey, from Cesar Chavez to Stephen Sondheim, from LA to NY and back, and from the back of the bus to the front of American pop culture. Touching, hilarious and absolutely one-of-a-kind, this sixty-plus Chicano finally brings his two fascinating worlds together in this riveting solo show con musica, of course! ¡Gaytino! is presented in collaboration with the Puro Mexicano Tucson Film Festival (11/1-11/3 at the Fox Theater).
