Arizona Theatre Company Now Accepting Applications for

2013-14 Professional Internship Program

 

TUCSON (March 20, 2013) – Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) is now accepting applications for its 2013-2014 Professional Internship Program. ATC, which will be entering its 47th season, is looking for individuals with extraordinary talent and passion to fill a limited number of internship openings. Internships will run from August 2013 through May 2014.

 

Internships are offered in the artistic, stage or production management, and technical theatre departments. Programs will be tailored to suit each individual’s personal passions, abilities and educational goals. Applicants must either be currently enrolled as a full-time student or recently graduated from a college or university in order to be eligible for the program. Specific desired skillsvary by department but basic requirements include excellent communication skills, computer literacy, passion and curiosity.

 

All internships include the following:

Shadowing theatre professionals with opportunities to network.

In-house production experience.

Creative development for skills-based learning.

Cross-departmental work to understand inner workings of a nonprofit.

Personal mentoring.

Complimentary tickets to all ATC productions during internship.

 

Internships are unpaid, however full-time interns (40 hours per week) will be given a small stipend for living expenses. Interested individuals must submit a completedapplication form, a current resume, and two letters of recommendation in order to be considered. Please see the following information for details on the three types of internshipsoffered:

 

Artistic

The artistic intern would assist the Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Directors with administrative duties, including communication with guest artists, facilitating auditions, and responding to information requests. The intern would be present in rehearsals as an assistant to the director for multiplemain stage shows throughout the season and would also offer assistance to the literary and education departments by reading play submissions, contributing to play guides, and providing support with school workshops and community outreach. Applicants for this position should be creative, organized, have great initiative, and possess excellent communication skills. This internship is offered as a full-time position only.

 

Stage or Production Management

The stage management intern would work closely with Equity stage managers, shadowing and assisting with all their duties in rehearsal and performance.

 

The production management intern would assist the Production Manager with day-to-day logistical planning, communicating with technical and artistic staff, and assisting with administrative duties such as expense coding and production meeting minutes.

 

Both internships have opportunities throughout the season to work as part of thetechnical crew. Roles can vary from show to show, but all offer unique learning and participation experiences. Applicants for these positions should have some prior experience in stage or production management. These internships are offered as full-time positions only.

 

Technical Theatre

Technical theatre internships have available placements in: costumes, props, electrics/lighting, sound, scenic construction and scenic painting. Intern placement and training is based on each candidate’s current knowledge and their desire to learn. Interns will gain skills in their desired area through hands-on experience and mentorship from their on-site supervisor. Applicants for these positions should have some prior experience in their field. These internships are offered asfull or part-time positions.
