MARCH 8th! Batucaxe Opens for SambaDa at the Rialto Theatre - CARNAVAL Style!
This is the show we have been working towards and we have all been waiting for!
AFRO-BRAZILIAN-SAMBA-FUNK-DANCE-PARTY!
From Santa Cruz, California, the home of the surf-and-skate, capoeira-kicking, scene-busting phenomenon known as SambaDa. This smoldering and soldering band is a magnet of unexpected particles shaved from Brazilian and American sources.
Featuring lead singer Dandha Da Hora, from Salvador, Bahia, Brasil. Dandha brings the deep connection of her life and lessons growing up in the bloco Ile Aiye, the sounds and rhythms of the Afro movement. She is joined with Marcio Peeters, also of Ile Aiye, one of the master teachers at California Brazil Camp. Founder Papiba Gohdinho, capoeira master, brings the influence of the spirit of capoeira. Read about the rest of this incredible band, one of Batucaxe's inspirations, HERE.
