Subject: How To Talk Minnesotan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE__________________________
THEY DON’T TEACH YOU THIS IN SCHOOL…
Back by popular demand. You asked for it Tucson, so here you go. Another visit with those
vernacularly challenged, hotdish cooking, long goodbyeing, fun loving folks from Minnesota,
the Humde’s. That’s right, take a trip with us to the Lost Walley Lodge. Enjoy the hospitality
of Ed and Lucy Humde and the gang as they teach you “How To Talk Minnesotan”.
Last year’s smash hit musical is returning to the Red Barn Theatre for just four more weekends
starting March 15th, 2013. Enjoy songs like Hotdish Hallelujah, The Ballad of Darlene Humde,
The One That Got Away, and The Minnesota Long Goodbye.
“It was like being home again. I couldn’t believe it. It was like seeing my dad up there on that stage.”
“I discovered muscles in my face I didn’t know I had, I was laughing so hard my whole face hurts.”
“It was like you were sitting right there in a lodge in Minnesota, the set was awesome.”
And from one particularly moved gentleman from Minnesota, “You bet, it was funny, but we
don’t really talk that way.”
How To Talk Minnesotan, The Musical, written by Howard Mohr based on his bestselling book
of the same name, with music and lyrics by Drew Jansen, is a hilariously funny look at the language,
customs and culture of our friends and relatives from Minnesota. “Although some of the things
might seem exaggerated , when the audience laughs and you hear “Oh Yah” and “You Betcha”,
you know that it isn’t too far off.“ says Scott Berg, director, actor and the person responsible
for bringing Minnesotan to Tucson audiences last year. “We were getting ready to pick our season
and I had bugged the rest of the board for a year to bring it in, I think it was more a way to get
me to shut up, but we all agreed to give it a shot”, Berg says. And what a shot it is. “We couldn’t
be happier bringing Minnesotan back for another run. And by the number of people talking about it,
you’d better get your tickets quick.”
How To Talk Minnesotan, The Musical opens March 15th, 2013 and runs for four weekends.
The shows are Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30pm and Sunday at 5:00pm. Ticket prices are
$16 general admission, $13 for seniors, military and students. Friday’s are Frugal Friday and all
tickets are $10. For reservations call 887-6239. The Red Barn Theatre is located 948 N. Main.
That is one block south of the intersection of Speedway and Main on the east side of the street.
