Tucson, AZ -- Pima Community College Music presents the guest recital THE POWER OF FIVE featuring the male quintet a cappella group Cantores from Tucson. Members include PCC music faculty Jonathan Ng, counter-tenor and tenor; Jose “Chach” Snook, counter-tenor and tenor; Stephen Warner, tenor; Wesley Laird, tenor and Darryl King, bass.  The accompanist is Suzanne Eanes.

 

The program highlights different styles of choral music from the Renaissance period, as well as folk and popular selections. The styles include the motet “Ave Maria” by T. L. de Victoria, the tudor anthem “If Ye Love Me” and the English madrigals “Fair Phyllis I Saw Sitting All Alone,” “Sing We” and “Chant It. ” Other styles in the program are the folk songs “Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair” and “The Gift to be Simple,” along with the popular songs “Yesterday,” “Sound of Silence” and “Bridge Over Trouble Water.” Eanes will also perform several piano works from different periods.
