 Actor for Musical Comedy (Tucson)

I am looking for an actor to be a part of a small ensemble cast in our upcoming show "How To Talk Minnesotan - The Winter Musical". We have previously done The Summer Musical but due to personal reasons, the actor who played this part cannot do it this time. It is a very funny look into the speech and habits of people from Minnesota. It is set at the Lost Walleye Lodge where Lucy and Ed Humde, their daughter Darlene, Handyman Russ, and friends Miller and Donny are teaching the vacationers how to fit in in Minnesota.

The part that is available is that of Russ. The Humde's handyman and future son-in-law who farms with his brother and dad just south of there. I am looking for someone who can play between 25 and 40ish, who is a tenor. The character Russ is a nice, kind, sweet, lovable, well intentioned, unaware, clumsy, kind of oafish, doofuss who you just can't help but appreciate. Usually the butt of Ed's jokes, he is willing to do anything for anyone. It is a great character and lots of fun. All of the characters are on stage for the entire play and each of them has at least one solo, if not more. Because it is such an ensemble, the majority of the songs utilize the rest of the cast as back up singers even tho it is a solo.

Rehearsals will begin in earnest the week of September 23 with a couple of music rehearsals next week. We will rehearse M-Th nights starting at 7pm. The show opens on November 8th and runs through December 1st with shows on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 and Sunday matinees at 2. There is the possibility that the Sunday shows will be at 5. That will be determined in the near future.

If submitting for the role of Russ, please check you schedules with the above given information and make sure that if you have any conflicts I am aware of them up front. Please send your resume and headshots by replying through the craigslist email system. I will get them and call each of you to set up a time to audition. The audition will consist of cold reading from the script and 32 bars from of a comedic song that shows your range but also your personality while singing.

Thanks in advance for submitting. This is a fun, fun, show and the audiences just love it.

Please email me with any questions.
